Pete Buttigieg has one of the strongest drug-policy platforms of all of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, and speaks eloquently about racial disparities in marijuana arrests. His own record as mayor, though, is quite bad on that front. I have a new story up, with Akela Lacy, that looks at South Bend policing under Mayor Pete.

Andrew Cuomo wants revenge on the Working Families Party for endorsing Cynthia Nixon against him in 2018. A commission he created is now moving to crush the party, even though it will end up hurting Democrats in swing district races at both the state and federal level. It’s an obnoxious enough move that even Chuck Schumer has come out against it. It’s still possible that next year the state legislature could reverse the decision, but it’ll take public pressure to make that happen. Here’s Lacy on it.

I was on The Rising to talk about my new story on Elizabeth Warren’s rhetorical link to women’s labor history, which, if you missed it, is here.

If this is my last email before Thanksgiving, I hope you enjoy yours, and I’m thankful that you’re a reader of this newsletter!
